I played a round recently, and many improvements have made this course fun. It's a beautiful location, and they are promoting golf for the kids. The greens were in good condition and firm. I had a couple that I thought that's gonna stick and rolled off the back. Fairways are much improved, and this course has a couple of really challenging holes. Just needs a hot beer cart girl and a new clubhouse. But Junior National golf course is in the rotation of golf courses to play.
Good value for what the cost is. Played this course a hand full of times over the past 4/5 years and I must say they are making positives improvements. Got in at first tee off at 6am and off at 8am. Despite it being on a Thursday I’d say 2 hours for 18 is pretty good.
Have not played this course, since 2007; it was really going down hill at that time. Greens were in poor shape, and over run with Gophers. A couple of weeks ago, I played with a young man, worked at Tres Rios. He said the course was in good shape. I found the layout was the same, we had a Coyote greet us on the first hole. The Tee-box on #2, on the hill side was open, which i liked, but it was in rather rough shape. I do enjoy the view from that Tee-box. The greens were not bad, they were smooth and were a lot better than GCU's green, where I play a couple times a week. The price was good, $54.+, with cart and small bucket of balls, which is also better than GCU. I did not like the double starts, going out on #1 and #10 at the same time. We finished #9, 1 hour and 30 minutes and ran into a group going out on #10. So we went from having a 3 hour round to a 4 plus hour round. I'm not going back until they stop the double starts, or at least cut off the #10 start times before the front nine groups are turning the corner. Hope they keep improving.
