This was a “one and done” course for me. The course was in great shape, but our experience prior to the round was disappointing, to say the least. The lady in the pro shop was not who you want greeting your guests. The starter was unprofessional and arrogant. He greeted my playing partner with a “what’s up?” We’re trying to figure out your course as first time guests. That’s what’s up! How about trying “Welcome to Oakwood. Have you played here before?” Also, there were no refreshment carts on the course. Our tee time was at 12:30 pm. The only place to get a cold drink was in the pro shop cooler, but we discovered they closed at 2 pm, right before we got to the turn. The Stone & Barrel restaurant saved the day. They were kind, professional and the food was great and fairly priced. They even had live “yacht rock” music, which was fantastic. Next time, we play golf somewhere else and then head to Stone and Barrel for a bite to eat.
