Decent course but not really worth the price. Greens were decent but the fairway and roughs were grown up and not in a fun, purposeful way which may have been due to the recent rain storms but still could have been mowed down. Pace of play was about 4.5 hours. Have played a lot of Houston area golf and this course feels like it needs some work compared to some of the other courses in the area at this price range. The burger and beer that came with the round were great. The private course side looks very nice. I feel like 3 stars is a very reasonable score for the Houston National course.
Waited 45 minutes after our tee time to start because they didn't have carts available. Seemed like the locals either grabbed carts or had their own and skipped ahead of us. Houses were too close to the course. Residents complained when a ball went into their yard...
Early Tee time, on a Monday. Range balls included, so I stopped there for a quick warm-up. Solo player, so it was a fairly quick round. Fairways were nice, and greens were very well kept. Lots of undulation, so keep everything under control, and you can score pretty well. It was a dewy morning, but overall, it was a great course. Stopped in for the included lunch after the round (when you book through Houston National, not golfnow), including chips and a beer, if that's your fancy. Well worth the price of the round, all things considered.
