Great little public beach. Water is warmer than typical for the elevation and great for swimming and floating. No gas powered engines allowed. Fishing allowed on opposite bank and lake is stocked with Trout. The water stays shallow for a LONG distance so makes it safer for little ones.
Great little picnic spot. Like the bunny slopes for S.U.P. and great for teaching kids how to cast a fishing line. I have heard it's stocked but I've never caught here. 18 cages of disc golf on the far side of the lake, with more undulation than the other local courses. Brick-and-mortar facilities, and a play structure for the kiddos too. Get there early to snag a bench, but there is plenty of space on the shores to enjoy if you don't get a table.
Small, calm and warm in summer for family water play. Entire south side has picnic benches, accessible by car. Plenty of shade. No kayak rentals at the lake. Rent at Sierra Nevada adventure co. They are very helpful and flexible. You don’t need luggage carrier on top of the car - they will strap them for you.
