What people say about (Fore! Seasons Golf, Berkeley)

Thupten Gelek

I went to this guy to get my irons regripped, and honestly, he did a solid job. I appreciated his work and was ready to come back for more—wanted to support a local business. On a separate day, I asked if he could regrip my putter. I told him I already had the grip and simply asked if he could do it for \$10 instead of \$15. It was a polite ask—no pressure, just a question. He said “sorry,” and I respectfully replied, “no problem,” and thanked him. That should’ve been the end of it. But then, out of nowhere, he sends me a long, over-the-top message saying I “spoiled his evening,” claiming “dickering” isn’t part of his business, and then jacks up the price to \$25 out of spite. Seriously? That kind of reaction is not only unprofessional—it’s borderline hostile. I wasn’t trying to scam him, I just asked a question like any normal customer might. If he had calmly explained his reasoning—that he charges for labor regardless of whether the grip is provided—I would’ve understood. I might’ve even gone ahead with the service. But instead, I got guilt-tripped and talked down to like I had personally offended him. I was ready to be a loyal, repeat customer, but now I wouldn’t go back even if he offered it for free. If you’re thinking about going here, just know the work might be decent, but the attitude is volatile, and the customer service? Absolutely toxic.

Michael is a seasoned professional thats been running this lovely little shop for years. His experience and passion shines in every interaction. Came to get my clubs regripped, and he didn't just find me the right gear but also shared invaluable insights and tweaks that made all the difference. Thanks again!

Called this gentleman initially very personable. Appears to be extremely knowledgeable. I was looking to reshaft 7 irons. He ask if I had called earlier in the week, I advised him that I didn’t. Upon asking him the cost he said $25 per shahf not including grips, I told him I would have to pass although Golf Mart was behind on their work the cost would be $15. (Within this conversation I told him that I had PXG irons) He then goes to tell me that I was the same person that called him. Then says, this is not a job that he would want. But was extremely adamant that I was the person that called him inquiring about his services early in the week, which I was not. You probably can’t take anything away from his ability to do good work, but he definitely needs a lesson in customer service. By the way, this is my first review I have ever written on any company.
