What people say about (Bay Club Walnut Creek)

Nina B

This is the best health and fitness club in the east bay. The amenities are endless. The staff remembers my name at the recovery center. The group classes are calming or challenging, whichever you prefer. You get what you pay for. Lots of perks and I feel safe here as a woman. I also appreciate that they don’t bring political or religious ideologies into the gym that everyone else has to accept. We all have our journey to walk and a gym should be a place of peace where we can all work on our health together and forget the outside world. Thank you for providing this atmosphere for us. I could not find it elsewhere. Really I couldn’t be happier at Bay Club. It’s worth the money.

I had a tour scheduled at 6:30 PM and arrived early at 6:18. The front desk informed me the person in charge was currently giving another tour and I’d be helped shortly. I waited patiently until 6:55, only to see her finally show up—and instead of acknowledging me, she took another person for a tour. The front desk then told me she would give me a tour after theirs—seriously? This is incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. I canceled an important commitment to be there on time, and not only was my time wasted, but I didn’t even receive an apology or explanation. No communication. No regard for people’s time. Extremely disappointing and frankly unacceptable for a place that markets itself as a premium club.

If you have kids — AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. We signed up for the Bay Club at $600/month for our family, thinking the daycare would be a huge benefit while we worked out. That was the only reason we were willing to pay that kind of money. But every single time we go to the Walnut Creek location — their so-called flagship — we get interrupted mid-workout and asked to come get our kids. Every. Single. Time. It completely ruins the experience. Meanwhile, at the Pleasanton and San Francisco locations, we’ve never had an issue. They actually watch the kids there without constantly calling parents in for no reason. We’ve been to other gyms with daycares and never had a problem like this. It’s clear that this specific location is not equipped to handle kids — and frankly, it shouldn't advertise that as a perk if they can’t follow through. If you’re joining for the childcare, save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. Not worth the money, not worth the stress.
