The Park At New Melle Lakes

This is such a serene, quiet place to walk, sit and just be. I've taken my dogs here before also. Visited Memorial Day weekend and there were quite a few fisherman, lots of people with their dogs and people playing disc golf. My mom and I were just here to walk and picnic. The cicadas were unusually loud today and we enjoyed listening to them. It's a real phenomenon and if you haven't experienced them yet, this was a good place to see and hear them! Beautiful lake, beautiful day!

Well groomed and gorgeous park. Substantial plantings of native Eastern Redbud are lighting up the woodlands. Dogwood just opening up this week.

There’s only one main parking lot which is great unless you’re trying to put a paddle board or kayak in the water since it’s up a giant hill from the lake with NO direct path or access. We also checked the paddle board rental site and it said NOTHING about any construction or the put-in site being moved. We had to walk the 1.3 mile path from the parking lot which is fine if you DONT HAVE A BOAT! The least they could do is put a disclaimer saying they moved crap around. Great park I guess but don’t expect to use the lake for anything other than fishing.
