What people say about (Gene Pray Memorial Golf Course)

Austin Davis

I take my whole family here. Big fan on the golf course

Patrick Pray

Gene Pray was my grandfather. I played this course quite a few times in the late 70s, on a visit from Virginia with my parents. I was 10 at the time. Obviously the course had a different name then, but I can't recall it. My grandfather was still alive, I believe he was mayor of the town, or the ex-mayor. I just remember the course had sand/oil "greens," the first and only time I played on that surface. I can still recall the smell of those oiled greens today, almost 50 years later. Not sure when they switched to regular grass greens. I also remember my grandfather had hundreds of old golf digest magazines at his home, and I probably read them all during my 2 week stay. My father took me out to play this course often during that stay. Golf was one of the things we did regularly together, until he got too old to play. My father passed away late last year. He was 85. I'm very happy to see the course is still there, and still in use. Not sure if I'll even make it back to Missouri - I live in Europe now. But you never know, life is strange in so many ways. I'd love to play this course again, just to see if it brings back more memories.

Just a nice 9 hole course. Better maintained than most. Fair fees for greens and carts.
