What people say about (Highland Pines Golf Club)

stewart williams

ow, where to start. Beautiful driving range, chipping green & bunker, large putting green in pristine condition. Easy to push tees in box areas; fairways were wonderfully green and maintained. Honestly, the “rough” was better than many course’s fairways! There is quite a bit of elevation change which both rewards on some holes and challenges good club selection on others. Front #8 is an amazing par three hole. Just play it and you’ll see why. All water carry and different angle from every box! The greens were perfectly groomed and fast. They held well if you could drop the ball from high approach shot. Fast but readable and true to what you see. One of the best courses I’ve played around the Houston area.

Great course, one of the best in the area. The staff and members have always been friendly to me. My 2nd time playing here. It’s really well maintained. Most of the people playing are shooting at least under 90 with their own custom golf carts. It’s not the place to bring a beginner. Especially during twilight, it’s a quick pace of golf. The course itself is not that difficult, not much trouble. The hard part, are the greens. Fastest greens in the area, lazer zoysia grass. High quality for sure, but not for the faint of heart. Especially May 21st the pin placements felt like it was a PGA tournament. Putting it my best quality and I couldn’t sink any long putts. But that is the fun of the challenge. Could spend all day on the practice green to figure out these greens. Grew up in The Woodlands as members of the TW Country Club. Bermuda grass is much different. Highlands Pines is a great course, just have to learn to adapt to lighting fast greens. I enjoy the nature of the course compared to Mansions on each side of the holes. Customer service has always been great the 2 times I’ve played. My only con is twilight seems stacked with tee times and it’s fast paced with regular members/players who know the course; which isn’t great if you’re new to the course. But they are all friendly & helpful when paired up. Rather play fast than slow and not finish. Had a great time! Hit the pin on the dramatic par 3 my first time playing there, nearly a hole in one! Easy birdie.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best courses around. Highland Pines is beautifully maintained with pristine greens, scenic views, and a fun but challenging layout. Great mix of holes, smooth pace of play, and friendly staff. A must-play if you’re in the area!
