What people say about (Tennessee Tech DGC)

Michael Graeve

An uneventful 9 hole par 3 course. Was not impressed with this course found on a college campus. The first four hole are wide open with no obstacles. Hole 5 -9 have some technicality associated to them but nothing worth driving more than 15 minutes to play. If you lived in the area or across the street from here, I could see this course being worth it.  Also could be a decent course for beginners, night rounds and/or field work with only a few holes where the woods come into play. Hole 1, 4, and 9 were missing their tee signs. For the signs that were there; they were in decent shape and showed the PAR, single tee location, single pin location and the distance for that hole. Once you find hole one’s tee pad though, it is straight forward from there and would be difficult to get lost here. Tee pads are turf pads and were a little beat up. Baskets are in good shape still though. Open fairways were well manicured at the time I was here. The layout took you from the parking lot, zig zagging across the field before going around the sports complex and bringing you back to the lot after 9. Course has minimal elevation but not flat and is cart friendly should you need one. The opening holes are grip it and rip it. The back 5 holes require some but minimal shot shaping skills. Hole 5 and 6, down near the woods, look like they could retain water after heavy rains. Hole 6 is close to the building, putting the AC units in obstacle positions (not a great idea). Hole 7’s tee pad was a bit overgrown and gave you very little run up on an already short tee pad. Hole 8 could be played as an island hole should you be inclined to play it that way. I didn’t see a drop zone so one would need to create their own. Hole 9 has some fenced in datalogging equipment that looks expensive and I suggest avoiding that area altogether. The course was not busy for a Thursday morning around 11:00 in mid-May. I did not see another player on the field during my time here and one round for a single player took me roughly 30 mins to play for a first time through. Again, unless I lived really close by, I would not visit this course regularly if I lived more than 15 minutes away. I could see myself stopping by if I were in the area to play Cane Creek Park and wanted a warm up round prior. 2.5 stars if I could do halves.
